President Elect
Having trained in Cheltenham, Sue worked in Africa before returning and setting up Illman Young in partnership with Yvonne Young in 1987, and has been Managing Director since Yvonne’s retirement. Sue has been actively involved with the Institute since the early 1990’s, working extensively on the education side, particularly in developing the Pathway to Chartership. In her role as President Elect, she continues to promote the profession and the role of landscape architects within the built environment. |

Vice-president
Brian trained in Edinburgh and Durham, and holds a degree in Fine art. He led the Landscape Section at Durham County Council before founding the company which carried his name. It went on to become the largest in Europe, working extensively overseas. Brian served on Council for 24 years, becoming LI President in 1983, and returned to Institute politics in 2009. He is currently a volunteer land manager for an orphan village in Kenya working towards self-sufficiency. |

Honorary Secretary
Helen trained in recreational land management at Reading, joining the LI in 1995 as a landscape manager. Her early work in local government was focussed on research, development, planning and land management and she later became Head of Culture, with responsibility for green infrastructure, arts, heritage, community development and climate change. She will be reviewing the governance of the Institute as well as dealing with standards, the code of conduct and disciplinary matters. |

Honorary Treasurer
Since qualifying as a landscape architect in 1982 Penny has worked in private practice and local authorities in London and the North West, and as a sole practitioner. She has been a professional practice examiner and more recently, served as the Chair and Branch Representative of the LI North West Branch. Penny is now chairing a new LI Heritage Assets Working Group, which will be developing a strategy for the future of the library and archive. |

Education & Membership Committee Chair
Irene is currently Head of the Design Team at Groundwork West Midlands, managing a team of three landscape architects and chairing Groundwork’s Landscape Architects forum. She has over 30 years' professional experience, working principally in the public and voluntary sectors in the North East. Irene has been Chair of the Education and Membership Committee for three years, and is a mentor and examiner on the Pathway to Chartership. |

Policy Committee Chair Noel Farrer CMLI
Noel is the founding Director of Farrer Huxley Associates (1995), an award winning landscape architectural practice in London. He is a CABE national design review panel member, and regular columnist and thought leader on current landscape issues. Noel’s work as Chair of the Policy Committee is driven by a desire to promote landscape in the creation of sustainable communities. |

Technical Committee Chair
Liz worked in local government between 1965 and 1973, when she left to raise a family and run a farm for ten years. She returned to Hampshire County Council as a consultant and in 1990 set up a landscape practice in Winchester, undertaking schemes for housing, schools and universities, town centres, and landscape assessment work. Liz has a long history of branch involvement and became chair of the LI’s Technical Committee in 2011. |

Trustee
First qualified as an architect and worked for Sir Basil Spence on a variety of projects. He subsequently qualified as a landscape architect joining Brian Clouston and Partners and becoming a director and also qualifying as an arbitrator. After also working for RPS Clouston for a period he formed Edwards Gale , and subsequently EDCO Design before forming PLACE . He is also an international member of the ASLA. He has worked on a wide range of schemes obtaining Civic Trust, Landscape Institute and other awards. |
